Dave Mustaine knew he had a bad-boy reputation. He was also clear: it wasn’t something he liked.
In this September 22, 2006 interview at Chicago’s Congress Theater during Gigantour, Mustaine talks about Megadeth’s relationship with its fans and why he believes that loyalty comes from respecting them.
“I’m not a tough guy,” Mustaine says. “I got in a lot of trouble. I have a bad-boy reputation, but it’s not something I like.”
He also addresses his past addiction, rejecting the idea that it was part of creating an image. As he puts it: “I actually wanted to quit.”
Later that night, Megadeth’s set included “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” “Peace Sells,” “Hangar 18,” “Symphony of Destruction” and “Washington Is Next!”
BandMonkey thought he had a bad-boy reputation too. Mostly with produce managers.
